You can obtain a 1-year renewable residence permit in Mexico by proving that you have sufficient income or savings to support yourself. The visa is first issued through a Mexican consulate abroad and finalized after arrival in Mexico.
2. What are the financial requirements?
You can qualify in one of two ways:

3. Can I work or open a business in Mexico with this visa?
Yes. Once your card is issued, you can work, freelance, or open a business legally in Mexico.
4. How long is it valid?
Your temporary residence is valid for 1 year and can be renewed for up to 4 years, after which you can apply for permanent residence.
5. Can my family apply with me?
Yes, dependents (spouse and children) can apply as family members under your main visa.
6. How long does it take?
The process typically takes 4–6 weeks once all documentation is submitted.
7. Do I have to live in Mexico full-time?
No. You only need to visit Mexico once a year to keep your card active.
