Brazil’s Constitution grants citizenship at birth to any child born on Brazilian soil. Once the baby is born, both parents can apply for permanent residence as parents of a Brazilian citizen.

Most families arrive 3–6 weeks before the due date and stay around 8–10 weeks after birth to finalize documents and residence cards.
3. What are the requirements?
-
Valid passports for both parents
-
Proof of pregnancy and estimated due date
-
Local address or rental agreement
-
Birth in a recognized Brazilian hospital
4. What documents will my baby receive?
-
Brazilian birth certificate
-
CPF (tax ID)
-
Passport (valid for 10 years)
5. What residency rights do parents get?
Both parents receive permanent residence status with the right to live, work, and open bank accounts in Brazil.
6. Can the baby have dual citizenship?
Yes. Brazil recognizes dual and multiple citizenships.
7. Is the program legal?
Yes. It’s fully protected by Article 12 of the Brazilian Constitution, administered by the Ministry of Justice and Federal Police.
8. How long does it take to get the residency cards?
Usually within 45–60 days after application submission.
